Dear Pride Family, Friends and Allies,
We regret to announce that Franklin County Pride 2020 has been postpone indefinitely due to COVID-19. Our June event is cancelled for the safety of our community and participants. But even if we can't gather in person the spirit of Pride is still strong.
We are now gathering messages of resilience, celebration, and comfort from our community that we will then broadcast via Facebook and our website on June 27th, 2020.
We would love to include you in this project. Please submit a video, audio clip, or photo in response to one of these prompts:
What does Pride mean to you?
What do you love about Franklin County Pride?
Share a message of resilience with the community.
Deadline to submit is May 31st, 2020
At 2pm on June 27th (when we would have been kicking off the parade) go outside and ring a bell, clang some pots & pans, sing your favorite song, make some sort of collective noise so that we all know we're still in this together.
Once it is safe to do so, we would like to host a social event where we can dance and rejoice in being together again. Stay tuned for the announcement of future events when everything has calmed down.
In the meantime, be good to each other and take care of each other. Franklin County Pride is first and foremost about building LGBTQIA community which we need now more than ever. We're here for you even in this time of physical distancing. Please let us know if there are ways we can support you further. Be safe and be well.
The Franklin County Pride Planning Committee
Franklin County Pride envisions that Franklin County is a community in which all LGBTQIA+ youth, adults, and families can enjoy the freedom to live safely, openly, and genuinely, free from discrimination due to race, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.
We aim to be as representative as possible of the diverse experiences and identities of the LGBTQIA+ community. We strive to be honest about who is and isn’t in the room, whose voices are and are not at the table, and to support other groups doing the work we are not.
If you are interested in helping us to elevate and amplify local needs and voices of our LGBTQIA+ community through joining the Planning Committee, offering resources or services, or sharing ideas, please contact us.
