Franklin County Pride unequivocally believes that Black Lives Matter.
We remember that Stonewall was a riot led by LGBTQIA+ people of color.
We believe that the police officers who murdered George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and who cut short countless other Black and brown lives are the product of a pervasively racist system with roots in white supremacy.
We acknowledge that there is no single Black experience in America just as there is no single LGBTQIA+ experience. We empathize with the pain of injustice inflicted by those with power against those without.
We must work to end the state-sanctioned violence against BIPOC and fight for justice for the victims, their families, and the communities they were stolen from.
Franklin County Pride envisions that Franklin County is a community in which all LGBTQIA+ youth, adults, and families can enjoy the freedom to live safely, openly, and genuinely, free from discrimination due to race, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.
We aim to be as representative as possible of the diverse experiences and identities of the LGBTQIA+ community. We strive to be honest about who is and isn’t in the room, whose voices are and are not at the table, and to support other groups doing the work we are not.
If you are interested in helping us to elevate and amplify local needs and voices of our LGBTQIA+ community through joining the Planning Committee, offering resources or services, or sharing ideas, please contact us.
